Well well well. Some people get what they deserve!
Timoclea of Thebes was a woman unfortunate enough to be living in Thebes when Thracian forces under Alexander the Great took the city in 335 BC. A Thracian captain raped Timoclea, them asked if she knew of any hidden money. She told him she was hiding money in her well. When he looked into the well, she pushed him into it, then hurled heavy rocks down into the well until he was dead. Timoclea was brought before Alexander, who saw Timoclea’s point of view, and she was not punished.
It’s a very satisfying story, as depicted by Italian baroque painter Elisabetta Sirani.
