. Often overlooked, pigeons are some of the most resilient birds around, thriving in cities, suburbs, and rural towns across the world. Descended from wild Rock Doves, today’s city pigeons still nest on buildings, ledges, and rooftops that mimic the rocky cliffside homes of their ancestors. Their soft coos are a familiar part of the urban soundtrack, and pigeons are known for their impressive memory and navigation skills.
